Marriages at Rendcomb, 1566 to 1812

Note. — in the earliest register belonging to the parish of Rendcombe, baptisms burials and marriages are entered indiscriminately, and for the first five pages, covering some forty years, are in one remarkably neat hand writing, pointing to the fact that in 1603, the register was transcribed in the new parchment book. The first entries are in the year 1566, and comprise five baptisms, one marriage, and one burial. The number for the year 1893 are six baptisms, and three burials, and no marriages, so that it would seem as if the population of the parish were much about the same three hundred years ago as it is now.
The following gives all the marriage entries found in the first parchment volume, which extends from 1566 to 1711. Those down to 1812 in subsequent volumes are also added. The first register is imperfect in places and more than one page appears to have been cut out or lost. All such gaps are noted in this transcript, which has been made by the Rev. G. A. E. Kempson, Rector of Rendcombe, and is now printed by his permission and under his supervision.
